This policy applies to all NuColour Ltd employees, subcontractors, and anyone engaged in our operations where asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) are identified or suspected.

3. Identifying & Managing Asbestos Risk
To prevent exposure and ensure safe working environments, NuColour Ltd follows a structured asbestos management process:
3.1. Pre-Work Asbestos Assessment
✔ Asbestos surveys must be conducted before commencing work on buildings constructed before 2000.
✔ Site-specific risk assessments will be undertaken to identify any potential ACMs.
✔ If asbestos is suspected, work will not proceed until a full asbestos assessment has been carried out.
3.2. Asbestos Register & Records
✔ A register of known or suspected asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) is maintained for all relevant projects.
✔ Records of asbestos inspections and assessments are documented and accessible to workers.
3.3. Risk Control Measures
✔ If asbestos is present, licensed asbestos removal contractors will be engaged for safe disposal.
✔ Employees will not disturb, cut, or remove ACMs unless they are qualified and authorised.
✔ If ACMs must remain in place, appropriate encapsulation or sealing methods will be used to minimise risk.
4. Employee Responsibilities & Training
4.1. Asbestos Awareness Training
✔ All employees and subcontractors working on potentially asbestos-containing sites must undergo Asbestos Awareness Training in accordance with Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
✔ Training includes:
- Identifying common asbestos-containing materials.
- Understanding asbestos health risks and exposure limits.
- Correct procedures for reporting and handling ACMs.
4.2. Responsibilities of Employees & Subcontractors
✔ Follow all asbestos safety procedures and report any suspected ACMs immediately.
✔ Do not disturb or attempt to remove any asbestos-containing materials unless authorised.
✔ Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when working near suspected ACMs.
4.3. Responsibilities of Management
✔ Ensure asbestos risk assessments are conducted before any work begins.
✔ Maintain clear communication with employees and contractors regarding asbestos risks.
✔ Engage licensed asbestos removal specialists where necessary.
5. Emergency Procedures for Asbestos Exposure
In the event of accidental asbestos exposure, the following emergency steps must be followed:
1. Stop Work Immediately – Do not continue working if asbestos fibres are disturbed.
2. Secure the Area – Restrict access and isolate the affected zone.
3. Inform the Site Supervisor – Report the incident to the site manager or health & safety officer.
4. Decontaminate – Follow decontamination procedures, including changing PPE.
5. Record & Investigate the Incident – Complete an incident report and assess necessary safety measures.
6. Engage Licensed Asbestos Professionals – Arrange for proper assessment and removal if necessary.
6. Asbestos Waste Disposal Procedures

✔ All ACMs must be double-bagged in asbestos-approved waste sacks, sealed, and labelled accordingly.
✔ Disposal must be conducted at a licensed asbestos waste facility, with full documentation of the waste transfer.
